The Greater New Britain Arts Alliance works on behalf of 35 arts organizations and individual artists in the New Britain area. GNBAA also has over 130 individual, household, and business members who support the work by their financial contributions and cooperative efforts. Activities of the GNBAA include:

  • Quarterly newsletter

  • Monthly Marketing Collaborative Calendar provided to members

  • Biweekly ArtTown article in The Herald

  • Another Friday celebrations held at a different arts venue each month

  • GNBAA booth at the American Arts and Crafts Fair in Walnut Hill Park

  • Annual Awards to individuals and organizations that make significant contributions to the arts

  •  Arts Directory and Website

  • Installation of directional street signage

  • Joint advertising program in area publications and broadcast media

The GNBAA�s provides coordinated advocacy for the arts by its active involvement with many other organizations including the New Britain Chamber of Commerce, the New Britain Downtown District Commission, New Britain Marketing Collaborative, the New Britain Commission on the Arts, Central Connecticut State University, Vision New Britain, the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, and the Mayor�s Office and the Common Council of the City of New Britain. The GNBAA maintains close ties with the New Britain Connecticut Legislative delegation and represents the interests of the Arts in the New Britain area to state and national leaders and organizations.
 

 Highlights for 2005 � 2006 included: 

  • Substantial increase in the attendance at our Another Fridays and holding them for the first time at the Youth Museum, the Copernican Observatory and Planetarium at CCSU, Hole in the Wall�s new theater, and South Church

  • Establishment of close ties with the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism

  • Southington Arts Council and the Children�s Dance Theater Connection join GNBAA

  • Refocusing of the joint advertising campaign to create positive energy for the New Britain area and its arts opportunities 

  • Adoption of a logo and tag line to facilitate marketing New Britain arts

  • Establishment of a visible street-level office in the Downtown District Visitors� Center

  • Complete redesign of the GNBAA Website to enhance its utility to the arts community and the general public
