Southington Arts Council was founded in 1982 to create cultural awareness and opportunities for residents of Southington and surrounding communities. Past activities have included promoting ballet and modern dance performances, plays, concerts, annual youth art exhibits, classes, workshops, and providing scholarships to graduating seniors. The Art Around Town program gives artists the opportunity to exhibit their work in businesses at no cost to the business. The Council also sponsors a juried art show and presents an annual art award to a Southington resident who has given her or his talents and time to the town.

Current activities include:

•	Trails Day in June when kids paint a mural and the Council contributes the entertainment
•	Putting Your Best Self Forward targeting junior and senior high school girls to help them get to know themselves better before they start making life-defining decisions
•	Teaching techniques of meditation and Yoga
